T is for This Magic Moment #AtoZChallenge

For this year’s A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of songs about magic. (Fitting for a fantasy author.) If you are here for my typical parenting-related post, check back in May when I am done with this blogging challenge.

T is for “This Magic Moment” by Ben E. King and the Drifters. It is one of the best-known songs by lyricist Don Pomus and pianist Mort Shuman. The single was released in February 1960 and spent 11 weeks on the Top 100 charts in the U.S. It reached number 16 in April 1960.

A version of the song was released in 1968 by Jay and the Americans. Their version spent 14 weeks on the Top 100 charts and reached number 6 in 1969.
