T is for Thomasina #AtoZChallenge

For this year’s A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of cats as characters. Whether they appear in film, TV, cartoons or literature, these felines may be the star of the show or just a supporting character.

Enjoy the A to Z Challenge…

T is for Thomasina, the cat and narrator from the 1968 film The Three Lives of Thomasina. The movie centers around a cat – originally named Thomas until they realized the cat was a girl. Thomasina lives with a widowed veterinarian and his seven-year-old daughter Mary.

One day, Thomasina is injured. Mary’s father decides to euthanize her. But because Thomasina has only lived once, she is returned to earth and then begins her second life. She lives with another woman, but soon is back in Mary’s life and regains her memories from her first life. When the woman marries Mary’s father, Thomasina’s third life with her new family begins.

Thomasina is very much an ordinary cat who loves Mary. But since she is also the narrator, we do get to hear her thoughts which lets us understand her character a bit better.
