M is for Mittens #AtoZchallenge

For this year’s A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of cats as characters. Whether they appear in film, TV, cartoons or literature, these felines may be the star of the show or just a supporting character.

If you are here looking for my typical Thursday post on a writing or publishing topic, I will go back to my regular schedule in May. Until then, enjoy the A to Z Challenge…

M is for Mittens, the cat from the 2008 Disney animated movie Bolt.  Mittens is a sarcastic, feisty, streetwise alley cat that is forced to help the dog Bolt as he journeys across the country to return to his home. Not only does she help him survive on the streets, but she teaches him how to be a dog. (See the video clip below.)

Mittens is pessimistic with a dry sense of humor. She is initially disinterested in a friendship with Bolt. When we first meet Mittens, she is surviving the streets of New York by having pigeons provide her food in exchange for “protection.” She is smart and proves to be a patient and true friend.

In case you missed out…

A is for the Aristocats

B is for Binx

C is for Cheshire Cat

D is for DC

E is for Elsa

F is for Felix

G is for Garfield

H is for Heathcliff

I is for Isis
