For this year’s A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of cats as characters. Whether they appear in film, TV, cartoons or literature, these felines may be the star of the show or just a supporting character.
If you are here looking for my typical Thursday post of a writing or publishing topic, I will go back to my regular schedule in May. Until then, enjoy the A to Z Challenge…
G is for Garfield, probably the most famous of comic strip/cartoon cats. Garfield was created by Jim Davis and has appeared in roughly 2500 newspapers, numerous TV shows and films (live action and animated).
Garfield is fat and lazy. He is obsessed with eating, loves coffee and lasagna and hates Mondays as well as diets. He is a master manipulator, abhors work, and rarely asks a cat should. Garfield is very cynical.
Here is a clip from the 2004 live action film with Bill Murray providing the voice of Garfield.
In case you missed out…
A is for the Aristocats
B is for Binx
C is for Cheshire Cat
D is for DC
E is for Elsa
F is for Felix
Great choice for G. I loved the cartoons and TV series when I was younger – not so much the recent films.https://iainkellywriting.com/2021/04/08/the-state-trilogy-a-z-guide-g/
I remember Garfield being hilarious when I was a kid and not funny at all as an adult and I still don’t know whether it was me or Garfield who changed.
