B is for Binx #AtoZChallenge

For this year’s A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of cats as characters. Whether they appear in film, TV, cartoons or literature, these felines may be the star of the show or just a supporting character.

B is for the Binx, the cat from the 1993 Disney movie Hocus Pocus. Binx is really not a cat. He is teenage boy, Thackery Binx, who is cursed by the three Sanderson sisters to live as an immortal black cat.  Binx dedicates his life to making sure no one lights the black flame candle that will bring the witches back to life.

Even though he started life as a human, Binx has spent many, many more years as a cat. He has had to blend in and behaves much like a cat – but he can talk to humans though I doubt he spoke to anyone until he met the main characters of the movie – Max, Dani and Allison. Binx is a brave and devoted character who cares for Dani who probably reminds him of his sister Emily.

  2. I don’t believe I’ve seen Hocus Pocus, but I’ll have to check it out just to meet Binx.
