For this year’s A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of character flaws – something all characters need.
E is for Envious. Any character can be green with envy. Most people have been envious of someone else at some point in their life whether they wanted something the other had or they noticed a desirable attribute in the other person.
Envy could make your character work harder to get what the other has through their own means. But taken to the extreme, an envious character might cause harm to the other character in an effort to make himself or herself feel better. And some who let envy take over may stop at nothing to get what they want.
An example of the more benign envy would be Kit from A League of Their Own who wants the baseball skills that come so easily to her sister Dottie. But envy can be deadly as it does in A Killer Among Friends where two girls kill their popular, perfect-seeming friend.
