S is for Strange Magic #AtoZChallenge

For this year’s A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of songs about magic. (Fitting for a fantasy author.)

S is for “Strange Magic” by Electric Light Orchestra. It was released in 1975 on their Face the Music album. It was written by Jeff Lynne, co-founder of ELO. When the single was released in the U.S., it was an edited version. The the original album version minus the orchestral intro was released in the UK. The edited U.S. version appears on the rereleased version of the album Face the Music that came out in 2006.

In its original release, the song topped the Billboard Hot 100 chart at number 14.
