V is for Voldemort #AtoZChallenge

For the A to Z Challenge, I have chosen the theme of characters. On my normal blogging days, Monday – parenting, Wednesday – quotes, and Thursday – writing/publishing, I will focus on characteristics. On the other days (Tuesday, Friday and Saturday), I will write about characters from movies, TVs or books.

VToday the letter is V for Voldemort from the Harry Potter series of books from J.K. Rowlings. Often referred to as He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named or You-Know-Who by characters, Lord Voldemort is the archenemy of Harry Potter who according to prophecy has the power to vanquish the Dark Lord.

voldermortVoldemort is a powerful wizard who is feared by many in the wizarding world. He is a sadist who hurts and murders people just for pleasure. He has no conscience, feels no remorse, and does not recognize the worth of anyone other than himself.

Like many archetypical villains, Voldemort’s arrogance leads to his downfall.  His quest for power and belief that he cannot be defeated contribute to his ultimate destruction. He is definitely a villain that is easy to hate.
