I grew up eating these cookies but I must warn you – it is hard to eat just one! If you make them the size indicated in the recipe they make tiny cookies so I usually make them bigger and just bake a little longer.
3/4 cup flour
1 t. baking powder
1/2 t. salt
1/2 cup butter, softened
1 cup brown sugar
1 t. vanilla
1/2 cup chopped nuts (I use Walnuts)
Put softened butter in a mixing bowl. Add sugar, egg and vanilla and beat until light and fluffy. Add flour, baking powder and salt. Stir until smooth. Add nuts and stir until mixed.
Drop by scant teaspoon onto lightly greased cookie sheet. Bake at 400 degrees for 5 minutes or until browned. Cool for 30 seconds and then remove to a wire rack. Store in airtight container.
Makes about 6 dozen cookies.
